The Ø-CAMINO takes you all the way around Ærø on foot. The 64 km walking route mainly follows the coast and passes through Marstal, Ærøskøbing and Søby as well as small villages and open countryside with wide views of the sea.
Along the way, you’ll experience the island’s varied landscapes and cultural heritage at close range. The route takes you past small beach huts and historic sites and through some of Ærø’s most interesting nature areas.
One of the highlights is Voderup Klint on the south coast, where large terraces descend towards the Baltic Sea. In the western part of the island, the Ø-CAMINO takes you through the countryside around Vitsø before continuing along the north coast.
You can walk the entire route in one trip or divide it into shorter sections. This gives you plenty of time for breaks, detours and experiences along the way.

The Ø-CAMINO brings together many different sides of Ærø in one long circular walk. The route stays mainly close to the coast and takes you through the island’s three largest towns as well as smaller villages and peaceful countryside.
As it is a circular route, you can choose where to start and which direction to walk. You can also easily divide the route into several day walks.
Practical information about the route
The Ø-CAMINO is 64 km long and takes you all the way around Ærø. Allow several days if you want to walk the entire route. Alternatively, choose individual sections and explore the island one part at a time.
The route crosses varied terrain and follows both paths and smaller roads, so good walking shoes are recommended. Bring drinking water and some food with you too, as some sections pass through open countryside.
Along the way, you’ll pass through Marstal, Ærøskøbing and Søby, where you’ll find restaurants, shops and accommodation. There are also various places to stop and stay in smaller villages and along the route.
Ærø’s free buses make it easier to plan individual sections or return to your accommodation after a day’s walk.
