Discover the history of seafaring with a local guide

Join us on a free guided tour of the Marstal Søfartsmuseum (maritime museum) and get even more out of your visit. Here, a local guide will take you through the museum’s many exhibitions and tell you the stories of the people, the ships and life at sea that have made Marstal famous far beyond Denmark’s borders.

Along the way, you’ll get up close to impressive model ships, ships in bottles, maritime exhibits and tales from sailors who have sailed the world’s oceans. The tour offers a vivid insight into both local history and the Danish seafaring tradition, whilst the guide shares stories and details that add an extra dimension to the exhibits.

The event is aimed at first-time visitors as well as anyone who would like to experience the museum in a new way. Both adults and older children can take part, and the guided tour is an ideal activity if you want to immerse yourself in Marstal’s maritime heritage.

After the tour, you can wander through the museum’s many exhibitions at your own pace and discover stories about seafaring, navigation and life at sea. As a visitor, you’ll experience history coming to life and gain a deeper understanding of the culture that has shaped Marstal over generations.

Practical information

The guided tours take place from 1 July up to and including the second week of August, from Tuesday to Thursday at 11 am. The tour itself is free of charge, but requires a museum admission ticket. It lasts about an hour and no booking is required.
